Amadeus

Global travel transaction processor and provider of advanced technology solutions

Date

Jun 2005 - Apr 2010

Sector

  • Business Services

Amadeus comprised two businesses - its distribution division, which provided an international network for the distribution of travel products and services, and an IT Solutions business (Altéa), which provided an extensive range of technology solutions for travel providers (mostly airlines) including reservations and departure control. Prior to Cinven’s acquisition of the business, Amadeus was listed on the Madrid, Paris and Frankfurt stock exchanges and had three major European airline shareholders, Air France, Lufthansa and Iberia, who all invested alongside Cinven. Amadeus also owned Opodo, the online travel agent.

Following the IPO of Amadeus on the Madrid Stock Exchange in April 2010, Cinven sold its shares in a series of tranches, and completed the sell-down of remaining shares in October 2011.
