Cinven acquired both Aprovia and MediMedia, the business and healthcare publishing activities of Vivendi Universal, in June 2002.  At the time Aprovia published 70 magazines, making it the leading business-to-business publisher in the French market, and operated 86 trade shows making it the number two trade show operator in France.  The businesses were operated separately under Cinven’s ownership and the Aprovia Group grew both organically and by acquisition. Cinven realised its investment in Aprovia through a pre-identified divestiture programme, including the sales of the UK and French construction titles to United Business Media and Sagard, respectively, the sale of GFA (agriculture titles) to Pragma, and the sale of Exposium (trade show business) to Unibail.
