Tractel, the global operator in lifting, handling and working-at-height products, today announces that it has agreed to acquire Safety Products Group (‘SPG’), the US-headquartered leading operator in the passive fall protection systems market, for an undisclosed consideration.

SPG operates FabEnCo, the North American leader in safety gates and BlueWater, a market leading manufacturer of rooftop safety systems.

SPG sells its products in the US and Canada through approx. 2,600 distributors, installers, and end-user customers operating across the industrial, commercial and municipal sectors. SPG employs 40 people operating from two manufacturing facilities, in Minnesota and Texas in the USA. Headquartered in Luxembourg, Tractel sells its products in 120 countries worldwide through a network of industrial distributors. Tractel plans to work with SPG management to accelerate its growth by leveraging its distribution infrastructure and relationships.

The acquisition of SPG provides Tractel with a significant number of complementary product lines to its Height Safety product range, enabling Tractel to offer a wider product range to its existing customers. In addition, the acquisition of SPG will enable Tractel to offer its own products to new distributers and customers in the US market. Both Tractel and SPG’s products have a strong reputation for quality, reliability and safety within the highly demanding working at height and fall protection systems markets respectively.

Denis Pradon, Chief Executive at Tractel commented “SPG is a market leader, with a strong track record in the rooftop safety market. We had identified SPG as an attractive acquisition which will enable us to deliver improved solutions to both our and SPG’s customers, and importantly continuing to provide first class products in terms of their quality, reliability and safety.
