Viridium is a consolidation platform for the German life insurance market. Founded in 2014, the Group (formerly named 'Heidelberger Leben Group') is a leading specialist in the management of life insurance portfolios in Germany.

The starting point was the acquisition of Heidelberger Leben. They specialised in retirement planning, surviving dependents and risk-planning products with a focus on unit-linked solutions, from Lloyds Banking Group in an exclusive partnership with Hannover Re, the third largest reinsurer worldwide. The Group was formed through the merger of the Heidelberger Leben business with Skandia Leben, which focused on unit-linked retirement planning products, under Cinven's ownership. In August 2017, Viridium acquired Entis, the life insurance business of Protektor Lebensversicherungs-AG and rebranded it ‘Entis’, taking the overall Group’s assets under management to in excess of €15 billion. None of the companies writes any new business.
