My Kinda Town
My Kinda Town was a group of American themed restaurants and bars. It comprised 19 full service restaurants and bars and three home delivery operations in UK, France, Spain, Germany and Ireland. In addition there were franchise operators in Belgium, Israel and Scotland. In February 1992, following a period of rapid growth during which it had become heavily indebted, the company was refinanced by Cinven’s investors.
The aim of management was to improve sales volumes, negatively affected by the recession of the early 1990s. The strategy would be to focus on its flagship outlets in major European capital cities and to develop franchise arrangements with local operators for regional cities or non-European countries.
The group was successfully turned around and its performance was sufficiently buoyant to justify a stock exchange listing. This occurred in May 1994 when Cinven exited the business.
