Collett Dickenson Pearce International (CDP) was a group of creative advertising agencies and related businesses with operations in UK, France, Spain and Italy. The large US and UK agency Young and Rubicam owned 40% of the group.
In June 1988 Cinven led a syndicate to buy Young and Rubicam’s share in CDP, enabling the group to restructure and acquire the minority interests in the European network. The management was restructured so that creative advertising solutions could be offered to multinational clients.
Following the implementation of the above strategy, in December 1990 the group was sold to Dentsu, the largest advertising agency in Japan.
Multiple returned on investment: 1.5x.
