Good news from Ariane 5!

Ariane 5 successfully completes the last mission of the year, marking its sixth success for the current year. With today's flight, which departed from the Kourou European Space Centre in French Guiana, Ariane 5 put satellites ARABSAT-6B and GSAT-15 into orbit.

ARABSAT-6B (BADR-7) was built by Airbus Defence and Space and Thales Alenia Space for Arabsat, an intergovernmental Arab League organisation based in Saudi Arabia. It is the first sixth generation satellite in the Arabsat fleet and will be providing broadband and telecommunication transmission services to the Middle East, Africa and Central Asia.

GSAT-15 is the 18th satellite built by the Indian Space Agency - ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), and will be providing telecommunication services to the entire Indian subcontinent as well as navigation and emergency support services.

The new CEO of AVIO, Giulio Ranzo, expressed his satisfaction: “I am extremely proud of the success of this sixth mission of Ariane 5 in a year full of activities and news in the panorama of the Italian and European space industry. I am very satisfied with how the AVIO Group’s team in Colleferro, Rivalta, Airola, Paris, and Kourou has responded precisely to all the needs of the programme and positioned AVIO once again as a protagonist of the 227th launch of an Ariane launcher. In the upcoming days, we will be engaged with the sixth flight of our Vega launcher, which will conclude 2015 with AVIO achieving a number of launches in a year that has never been reached before.”
