PiC wins two ‘Provider of the Year’ industry awards

PiC's commitment to innovation and meaningful patient engagement and outcomes was recognised by the judges of two industry awards. Laing and Buisson Awards recognised PiC as 'The Independent Mental Health Provider of the year', for its the Real Work Opportunities (RWO) programme. The Secure Care Forum Independent Healthcare Apex (IHA) awarded PiC 'Major Secure Provider of the Year 2013' for the second year in a row, for performance including positive patient outcomes, industry leadership and partnership working.

Firstly, Laing and Buisson, the leading healthcare sector research publisher, recognised PiC as 'The Independent Mental Health Provider of the year', for its the Real Work Opportunities programme (RWO). Real Work Opportunities offer the chance  for patients to take on jobs within the hospital setting, replicating as far as possible a regular workplace situation. Twenty two percent of patients in our hospitals (over 200 patients) now have a RWO, such as shop manager, patient newspaper editor. The award is independent industry recognition once again of PiC's clinical expertise and highly specialised work within secure care.

Secondly, The Secure Care Forum Independent Healthcare Apex (IHA) awarded PiC 'Major Secure Provider of the Year 2013' for the second year in a row, for performance including positive patient outcomes, industry leadership and partnership working. Among the highlights of PiC performance recognised in the judges' decision were:

  • Risk assessment (HoNOS Secure) paired results showing positive patient outcomes
  • Industry leadership evidenced by NHS England's selection of a PiC-led work related to the CQUIN for optimised patient care pathways from secure services.
  • PiC partnership with the NHS and Commissioners in meeting patient needs
