National roll-out of very-high-speed broadband: Numericable, a key player in the French government’s plan

  • Launch of speeds of up to 200 Mb in the Ain department
  • Launch of speeds of up to 200 Mb in Nante

Two months after signing a partnership agreement with the Syndicat Intercommunal d'énergie et de e-communication de l'Ain (Intermunicipal union for energy and e-communication - SIEA), and in accordance with the objectives set out in the national plan for very-high-speed broadband drawn up by French politician Fleur Pellerin, Numericable is pleased to announce the commercial launch of the company's offering and services for towns within the Ain department and for 84,000 households in Nantes.

Numericable provides 75% of the very-high-speed broadband currently available in France

According to its research regarding the fixed-access market for Q2 2013, ARCEP confirmed that Numericable has maintained its position as the number one provider of very-high-speed fibre optic broadband in France.

Of the 1,765,000 very-high-speed broadband subscriptions1 in France, ARCEP's report states that 1,322,000 are connected to Numericable's network.

ARCEP's research therefore confirms:

  • the overall growth of the very-high-speed broadband market (vs. ADSL).
  • Numericable's leading position in the fibre market.

Numericable is thus supporting the French government's objectives to improve the digital communications infrastructure across the country.
