Avio

Business description

Avio is a world leader in the design, manufacture and servicing of subsystems for commercial jet engines (as used, for example, in the Boeing 777 and Airbus 320) and military jet engines (for example, those used in the Eurofighter and F-35 Joint Strike Fighter). It is a partner to 'original equipment manufacturers' (OEMs) such as General Electric. Its smaller space unit produces propulsion systems for space launch vehicles including the Ariane rocket. Avio's activities include jet derivative engines and automation systems for naval and industrial applications, power generation and a successful maintenance, repair and overhaul operation for civil and military clients.

Cinven strategy

Cinven's Industrials sector and Italian teams identified Avio as an attractive investment opportunity because of the very strong position it occupies in a growing market, based on technological excellence and partnerships with leading engine manufacturers, governments and space agencies. Cinven's strategy is based on the improvement of margins and further expansion of the business through sector growth.
